Underground Infrastructure magazine is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Underground Infrastructure Awards (formerly Underground Construction Awards).
These prestigious awards recognize the industry’s outstanding accomplishments, including projects and technology advances, and the individuals that made a significant impact on the market within the past year (technology advancements and projects must be completed and in the market 12 months prior to 2024).
The deadline for submissions has been extended!

Winners announced at the Awards Ceremony on March 19, 2024 (in conjunction with the 2024 UIC conference)

Nominations are being accepted in the following categories:
Community Impact Award
Being closely connected with the people we serve is an essential part of who we are. This award will focus on a contractor, utility, manufacturer/supplier or consulting engineering who has gone above and beyond in support the underground infrastructure community. Can be local, regional or national in scope.
Electric Distribution and/or Transmission Project of the Year
With the push to build out the electric grid, there are many outstanding underground power projects underway. Scope of project, unique challenges/considerations or simply lessons learned can all be factors for consideration.
Asset Management Project of the Year
As the world’s sewer, water and gas infrastructure continues to grow and age, managing these vital assets has become paramount to the successful operations of utilities. Combining various inspection, evaluation, GIS and other types of technology have stimulated asset management’s expansion and absolute necessity for utilities. Scope of project, technology implementation and benefits gained will be considered.
Emerging Technology of the Year (General, all markets)
In the underground infrastructure industry, fast moving technology advancements and enhancements have made possible huge jumps in productivity, efficiency and economics on the jobsite.
Energy Pipeline Project of the Year
Despite political battles, oil/gas/LNG related pipeline construction remains the safest and most efficient manner to transport vital energy. Projects that overcame challenges or achieved a success in the context of scope will be considered.
Environmental Awareness Award
With the need for managing operations and construction in an environmentally friendly manner increases, this award focuses on a stand-out job of stewardship within our industries.
Gas Distribution Project of the Year
America runs on natural gas and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Work continues to aggressively construct or replace gas distribution throughout North America. Project challenges or scope of work will be considered.
Emerging Rehabilitation Project of the Year
The massive underground infrastructure continues to age, and rehabilitation has emerged as a critical aspect of maintaining system. This award focuses on unique, challenging or major work conducted to complete such a project.
Rising Star
This award recognizes the achievements of individuals under 35 years of age who have demonstrated a valuable and original contribution to the industry. Nominations should reference or reflect these qualities:
Sewer Project of the Year
As our population continues to grow and even shifts from inner city to outer city or suburbs, the ever-present need for high quality, efficient sewer systems generates demanding projects.
Water Project of the Year
As our population continues to grow and even shifts from inner city to outer city or suburbs, the ever-present need for high quality, efficient potable water systems generates demanding projects.
Fiber Project of the Year
Already in high demand, the essential need for speed and bandwidth continues to drive fiber construction. Combined with funding for rural areas, significant projects are underway across the country.
Underground Infrastructure’s Benefactor Award
This award will honor an individual who has made significant strides throughout his or her career and had a significant impact on the industry or the community in which they reside. The recipient may be active or retired.
